Language through relations

Early childhood education is influenced by positive relationships. A good professional-child relationship plays the key role in language acquisition. Relationships develop in sensitive communication and in supporting the children on their learning path.

The educational aim is to support the children in the development of social and emotional competences as well as in the formation of their identity. Language plays the central role here, as language is not only an instrument of communication, but also a work of imagination and reflection. Supporting language education through linguistic support and diverse dialogues is one of the most important aspects of the educational work at TfK.

Multilingualism: one of the key competences

Multilingualism is one of the most important skills in the modern world. It opens the door to better education and career opportunities, as well as enabling international exchange and friendships around the world. At TfK, we show a special value for children‘s languages and encourage them to try their hand at several languages. Our bilingual programmes create the perfect environment for this and ensure a love of learning.

The Immersion Method

Immersion means „language bath“ and comes very close to the natural way of language learning. Here, one person in the group speaks only German and the other only English. The child learns English and German naturally through the language environment, relationship with the professionals and interactions. All our English speaking professionals are examined and the quality of the programme is evaluated on an annual basis.

Playful German – a window into the world of the German language

In our facilities, we want to make multilingualism present and provide easier access to the Gernman language. We achieve this through the daily visit of our English-speaking hand puppets. In small fifteen-minute sessions, the children learn their first English words. Playfully and without force.

Early Reading Literacy

Reading skills and the acquisition of academic language are of central importance in the educational system. The ability to understand, analyse and critically evaluate texts is not only relevant for education, but also for a self-determined life and participation in the information society.

In our facilities, we focus on reading aloud, storytelling, Kamishibai and philosophising with the children. We not only want to support language development, but also creativity and critical thinking. Reading aloud is an integral part of our everyday educational programme.

"For me, beeing multilingual opened doors to the whole world. Now it is my wish to share inspiration and my passion for languages with the whole world.

We give children the chance to intuitively learn grammar without defining the rules in advance. We offer them language and let them analyze and discover the way the English language works and how the grammar is structured."
